So one day I’m at an Art & Antique Show in West Palm Beach strolling around like a kid in a candy store, and I stumble upon a ratherly large boisterous Dealer and ask him, “so what’s that worth?”. His smirking response, “What’s it to You?”.  Afterwards, I thought what a get a name for a blog about Treasure Hunting.

Being a collector and dealer of Rare Historical Artifacts from the genres of Entertainment, Sports & History,   I’ve probably heard that phase a million times,  “What’s it worth”.    When I opened one of the first eBay drop off Stores in the country in 2004, it was called , “So What’s it Worth”.  Whenever anyone discovers my Rare Treasures store, its almost instantaneous,  “Het I got……..”.  Everybody has something they thing is worth a load of $$.  Unfortunately 99% of what I hear is worthless.
And of course when the topic of baseball cards comes up, the ensuing conversation is almost universally verbatim,   “My mother threw out all my baseball cards, probably a few Mickey Mantle rookie cards”.

Here, we will focus on the Real Gems.   Only the most Rare artifacts that have survived decades undetected.     For example,  the most coveted jewels of the collectibles population are the vintage Unopened finds.    As I write this there is up for auction an unopened case of Hockey Cards form 1979-1980 with a current bid over $2.1 Million!  Only an unknown case could have survived 45 years without a human opening them. In the high end sports memorabilia market, This is what dreams are made of.   And in case you didn’t know, the Sports Memorabilia market has, next to the Fine Art market, the most affluent consumer base.  No other collectibles  market commands the psychological buying power like sports memorabilia, particularly choice baseball cards.
Gold and silver come nowhere close to the investment potential of baseball cards
